Archers.

The archer is way the most popular troop type in Evony, and that’s cause it’s the best troop there is. The archer outperforms pretty much any combination of troops the enemy can send at you. For attacking archers are pretty awesome also, and in the beginning of a server archers are pretty much the only troop you’ll ever need. Against NPCs you don’t really need any other troops either, apart from ballistae to have 0 losses on the low level NPCs. Archers are pretty quick and cheap to build as well. Read more

Troop build for offense players

Offensive Players: For those that play the game to crush enemies, like the bear, or make strategic assaults, like the hawk.

Casual Offensive Players: For those that farm npc’s once a day at most.

Don’t even bother. Seriously. Offensive armies simply require more food and resources than defensive ones. If you are a casual player, I recommend playing the game defensively. If you have little time to play, but still want to attack, then I recommend you use the casual defensive player setup listed above, and attack only very weak targets with archers. Realistically, you won’t be able to hit much else. Read more

Evony rainbow attack and layering

The rainbow attack has been discussed a lot when it comes to Evony combat mechanics. Basically a rainbow attack is an attack with one main army type and 50 – 1,000 troops of each other type you have available, usually not including siege weapons as they are too slow. You don’t want to use less than 50, as they may be killed off in traps before they reach the enemy troops and then they will loose their purpose. The purpose of including them is to make the enemy troops busy for one round so that the main type of your army can either reach the enemies without being damaged, or fire at the enemy without taking damage themselves for several rounds. This is called layering and here are two standard Evony rainbow formations. Read more
